This particular piece is a large floor-based framework, free-standing and suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation. Carvings are sold separately.

Framework for Descent is an episodic and modular steel framework for which Morgan's 'Animula' carvings can be placed. These frameworks symbolise a descent into the underland where Morgan's 'little souls' exist. Collectively they form a series of entanglements related to heritage, myth, loss and birth. Hand ground stainless steel surfaces emulate a watery surface, connecting ourselves with the formation of alabaster, mediaeval speculative creatures and our physical existence and bringing vitality to an otherwise prosaic material.

  • Hannah Morgan’s work is sculptural installation. Combining film, audio, sculpture, and text to create material components that consider decay and emergence. Thresholds, unearthing, preservation, trace, and speculation underpin their practice. Morgan creates narratives through sculptural assemblage and text/audio that consider loss and transformative states of being that address the precarity of self, object and the natural world.
